Overview
This evening is built around the quad. Some 45 minutes from Marrakech by road, the Agafay plateau unrolls in waves of ochre hills and gravel tracks, with the High Atlas lined up on one side and the lake of Lalla Takerkoust in the distance. There are no sand dunes here, but the wide, firm trails are perfect for a first ride on four wheels.
Once Morocco Adventure Travel has collected you from your hotel or riad, you are welcomed at the camp with mint tea, then handed a helmet and given a short briefing on the controls. Nobody needs prior experience. Following your guide, you spend about an hour on the desert tracks, timed so that the last stretch coincides with the sunset and the hills glow orange around you.
After some free time to watch the colours fade, dinner is served at the camp: Moroccan salads, a tagine and fruit or pastries, with a vegetarian option if you request it in advance. The night ends by the campfire with traditional music, drums and folk dancing, before the drive back into the city.
A camel ride is not part of this package. If you would like to add one, choose our quad, camel ride, dinner and show evening instead; it follows the same route with an extra half hour on a camel.

Itinerary

1
15:00 · Pick-up in Marrakech
Your driver meets you at your hotel or riad, or at the nearest square or gate if your riad sits in a car-free lane. The exact time follows the season's sunset and is confirmed in advance on WhatsApp. From the city you drive south-west for about 45 minutes in an air-conditioned vehicle to reach the camp on the Agafay plateau.

15:45 · Welcome tea and safety briefing
At the camp a glass of mint tea and some snacks are waiting. Your guide then hands out helmets and explains how the quads work, how to brake and steer, and how the group rides together on the tracks. Quad drivers must be at least 16 years old, while younger children can ride as passengers behind an adult, so the whole family can come along.

16:15 · Quad ride at sunset
You set off behind your guide for around an hour on the desert trails, climbing gentle slopes and crossing open flats with the Atlas peaks on the horizon. There are stops for photos along the way, and the ride is planned so that you finish as the sun dips behind the hills and the whole plateau turns warm shades of orange and pink.

17:30 · Free time and dinner at camp
Back at the camp you can relax, wash off the dust and take pictures as the sky darkens. Around 18:00 dinner is served: a choice of Moroccan salads, a tagine slowly cooked over the coals and fruit or pastries for dessert, with water included. Let us know when booking if you need a vegetarian meal so the kitchen can prepare it.

19:15 · Live show by the campfire
Once dinner is over, the musicians gather around the fire for a show of traditional Moroccan and Berber music, with drums, songs and folk dancing. It is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and guests are always welcome to join in the dancing. Bring your jacket to the fire, as the desert gets chilly after dark for most of the year.

20:30 · Return to Marrakech
At the end of the show you climb back into the vehicle for the 45-minute drive across the plain. You are dropped at your hotel or riad at around 21:15, roughly five and a half hours after you set off, with time to spare for a late mint tea on a rooftop or simply an early night after the ride.
