Overview
Three valleys, one day: this small-group trip with Morocco Adventure Travel links Asni, Imlil and Ouirgane, each with its own character, beneath Jebel Toubkal, at 4,167 m the highest summit in North Africa. You will not climb the peak, but you will walk in its shadow and eat lunch in a mountain home.
From Marrakech it is about 65 km and an hour and a half by road. The route passes the red cliffs of the Moulay Brahim gorge and enters the Asni valley, a farming area known for its Saturday market. In Imlil, the starting point for Toubkal climbs at around 1,740 m, you meet your mountain guide and set off on mule tracks to the village of Aroumd, about 1,900 m, which faces the Toubkal massif. The walk takes two to two and a half hours there and back with roughly 200 m of ascent, and your guide explains the irrigation channels, the crops on the terraces and how families live up here. Mint tea is served on a village terrace along the way.
Lunch is cooked by a Berber family in their home: usually salads, a vegetable or chicken tagine, bread from the clay oven and fruit. In the afternoon you drive to the quieter Ouirgane valley, where the Nfis river runs between pine-clad slopes and red earth, before returning to the city.

09:00 · Pick-up in Marrakech
The morning starts with a door-to-door pick-up. Guests staying down narrow medina alleys are met at the closest gate or square that a vehicle can reach, with the exact place agreed by WhatsApp. Leaving Marrakech behind, you travel south over the Haouz plain, where olive groves and fields slowly give way to the first folds of the High Atlas ahead.

The road climbs into the red-walled Moulay Brahim gorge, where you stop for photos from above. Beyond it lies the Asni valley, a patchwork of farming villages and fields that is known for its busy Saturday market. Your driver continues up the valley towards Imlil, and the views of the surrounding peaks open up with every bend of the road.
